A Hong Kong detective teams up with a fast-talking LAPD detective to rescue the kidnapped daughter of a Chinese diplomat.

When the daughter of Chinese Consul Solon Han is kidnapped in Los Angeles, the FBI wants to handle the case alone. Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee is sent to help but the FBI assigns loudmouth LAPD Detective James Carter to keep Lee out of their way. Despite their initial clash, Lee and Carter team up to rescue the girl and uncover a conspiracy.
